Beginner's guide: your first hour

New to the jianghu? This guide covers your first hour in DotXia: Blade Story.

1. Create your hero

Choose a name and appearance. You start without a sect, so every new hero begins with the same basic skills: a simple strike, meditation to recover health and inner force, and a short dash.

2. Follow the quest tracker

The main quest line walks you through movement, combat, your inventory and the world. Press the quest button or open the quest log to see your current objectives and rewards. Finishing quests is the fastest way to level up early on.

3. Fight smart

• Keep an eye on your health and inner force bars.
• Meditate while sitting to recover quickly after a fight.
• Equip any better gear you find from your inventory.

4. Reach level 10 and join a sect

At level 10 you can visit the envoy of a sect in the city and complete a short series of trials. At the end you choose a combat path and receive your first sect weapon and a skill point. Not sure which sect fits you? Read about them on the home page.

5. Team up

Party dungeons are safer and more rewarding with friends. Use the party finder to look for a team.

New players are protected from player-versus-player combat on regular maps until level 30, so take your time to learn.

Tips for phones

Rotate your phone to landscape. The touch controls are built for it.
